Washington, USA - A novel about the child bride of the Prophet Mohamed has been withdrawn by Random House, which said it feared that publication of the book could "incite acts of violence". Critics, however, have accused the publisher of abandoning the principle of free speech and caving into pressure from extreme Islamist elements.

SOFIA, Bulgaria - May 22, 2008 - The Bulgarian State Agency on National Security (DANS) has announced that the Islamic organization "Faith" is preaching Wahhabism in Bulgaria. Bulgarian information sources report that the organization is not officially registered, but in fact it this is a conflicts with another report that says that the organization was indeed found in the registers of Sofia City Court. It was registered in 2002 as a foundation under the name "Faith". The agents working on the case discovered that activities of the foundation do not correspond with the purposes laid out in the registration with the court. The founders of the foundation are three Bulgarian citizens who have graduated Islamic theological education in Saudi Arabia.

LOS ANGELES, January 28 (Compass Direct News) – Five months after the daughter of a member of Saudi Arabia’s religious police was killed for writing online about her faith in Christ, Saudi authorities have reportedly arrested a 28-year-old Christian man for describing his conversion and criticizing the kingdom’s judiciary on his Web site.
