Happy is a strange word. It's pretty pagan in origin and it has to do with
Fortune. "Fortune" comes from the cult of the Roman goddess Fortuna,
which was styled after the Greek female goddess Tyche.
Israel’s military campaign in Gaza that began Saturday December 27th has triggered
global coverage, some of it notably fair and complete and some skewed and misleading.
American reporters in the first days produced a number of stories that contained
important context for readers and viewers, including in the New York Times (Israelis
Say Strikes Against Hamas Will Continue, Dec. 28). On the other hand, the
BBC’s World Service, true to form, skewed the story in segments like a Dec 29
one hosted by Claire Bolderson in which two interviewees – one British and one
Israeli agree that Israel is wrong.
Rev. Samuel Kobia, general secretary of the World Council of Churches, an organization
that has issued scant, oblique, and modulated criticism of the incessant rocket
attacks against Israel from the Gaza Strip, has found his prophetic voice. In
a statement issued on Dec. 29, 2008, Rev. Kobia condemned Israel’s recent bombing
of Hamas’ military installations and warned Israel against sending in troops
into the Gaza Strip. While Rev. Kobia specifically states the violence against
Gaza must stop, he does not offer the same explicit and specific demand regarding
ongoing violence against Israel.
Muslim congressman Keith Ellison from Minnesota has completed his first pilgrimage
to Mecca. He was exuberant about his experience and very impressed by how diverse
the group was. Ellison made number of comments related to Barack Obama’s
election as a President of the United States.
WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty
God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore
His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their
joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United
States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging
with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially
by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government
for their safety and happiness:"
by Chuck Norris. Protestors of Proposition 8 in California (the marriage amendment)
shoved aside a 69-year-old woman who was bearing a cross. They reportedly spit
on her and stomped on her cross. They then aligned themselves in a human barricade,
blocking the media from getting to or interviewing the woman.

RANCHO SANTA FE, CALIF. – In recent months, a spate of atheist books have argued
that religion represents, as “End of Faith” author Sam Harris puts it, “the
most potent source of human conflict, past and present.”
Islamic Theologian's Theory: It's Likely the Prophet Muhammad Never Existed
by Andrew Higgins
MÜNSTER, Germany -- Muhammad Sven Kalisch, a Muslim convert and Germany's first
professor of Islamic theology, fasts during the Muslim holy month, doesn't like
to shake hands with Muslim women and has spent years studying Islamic scripture.
Islam, he says, guides his life.
DETROIT — Michigan is getting its first female Muslim legislator, thanks
in large part to her Jewish boss, the incumbent. Rashida Tlaib, a lawyer, community
activist and daughter of Palestinian immigrants, easily won a House seat in
Tuesday's general election after emerging from an eight-way Democratic primary
with 44 percent of the vote in August.
By Dr. Alveda C. King – Niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. May God
have mercy, and restore us to a covenant of life! Isaiah 28:15 - Because ye
have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement;
when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us:
for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
Isa 28:18 - And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement
with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through,
then ye shall be trodden down by it.
